City attends to electricity fault in Rondebosch, traffic flow impacted
30 August 2024
The City's Electricity Generation and Distribution Department is carrying out critical electricity infrastructure repairs in Rondebosch. The underground cable repairs will affect traffic flow on the stretch along Belmont road, between Riverside Mall and St Andrews Road.
Please note that urgent repairs will only affect one lane in Belmont road, which will reduce traffic flow. The repairs are necessary for network stability to avoid unplanned outages in the area. Electricity supply to the surrounding households and businesses will not be affected while the work is being completed. The City apologises for any inconvenience this may cause.
The work will take place from:
- 13:00 to 20:00 on 30 August and on
- 31 August from 08:00 to 20:00
Please note that the repair work and the disruption to traffic is an estimation. The repair work could be delayed due to the complex nature of the infrastructure work.
Our teams will work as quickly as possible to complete the work within the communicated time.
